Arc

Postby Bill from WA » Fri Sep 12, 2008 4:40 pm

Hello

I have been looking at the Arc entries and a horse that interests me is Vision d'Etat. I think he has a very good chance to pull an upset here. Beautiful pedigree for the distance and the course.

He is entered in tomorrow's "Niel" - the best Arc-guide in recent years:

What do the ratings numbers mean? Some horses have them and some don't.

What do the French mean by "blink."? Is that whether the horse will be wearing blinkers?

I don't know about the Arc, but Vision d'Etat seems to be undefeated so far. He's a 3 yo and will be running against older horses there. His pedigree is great for sport horses as well as race horses. If the sport horse world could afford horses like him, maybe TBs wouldn't be so out of favor for show jumpers.

I go with you Bill, he is indeed bred for the distance and the course.
Products from the sire of his dam are sought after for sprint hurdler races in Great Brittain.

Rating "550" means a "côte valeur"-rating of 55,0 kg = 121 lbs International Classification = World Rating. Horses with no rating have no French côte valeur-rating so far.

Does anyone have the time form ratings the drf racing post pps are useless to me. This is my favorite race outside of the states but I always have trouble finding info. What type of ground is expected Sunday?
If I could be anywhere at any time it would be Keeneland in the spring.

Does anyone know if the Arc is on television anywhere in America? French racing is hardly ever on TV; even TVG or HRTV don't show it, I presume due to various rights.

I believe TVG will start broadcasting on Sunday at 7 AM Pacific.

Zarkava the only filly in the field is favourite at the betting this morning.
This since her win in the vermeille.
Can be tricky, because she was standing in her stalls last times.
Reallied from last into first, in the last two furlongs.

You have to see this.
