Imperia wants to run on grass! ** never mind, he will scratch. Just read that on DRF Plus.
I like Dubai Sky, and of course, Royal Son.

Nice race, wide on the first turn sat behind a fast early 1/4 picked it up on the turn for home won going away, time didn't appear to be anything special but it was a nice performance.

Did that race carry enough derby points for guaranteed entry? Is he going to have another prep?

Horse to key an eye on, I liked the manner of his victory.

As of yesterday he isn't nominated to the TC. I can't really see Mott pushing this horse to the Derby - he is a damn fine turf horse. But he is owned by Three Chimneys in partnership with Besilu, so who knows.
He got 50 points, so he's in.

Midnight tonight...Monday, March 23rd is the final day for late TC entries (at a cost of $6,000), other then paying a hefty supplemental nomination to the Derby at entries time of $200,000. If Mott liked what he saw, he'll most likely cover his bases and drop his name in? His works on dirt have been consistently good and his full brother won over turf, dirt and all weather. Twirling Candy's only GR 1 win was over the dirt at SA. Dubai Sky was very professional winning from his outside post after breaking 10th and wide throughout. He received a 92 beyer for his effort....nothing special, but he did what was asked of him every time he ran since B's were added to his equipment. Here's the replay. TJ

I thought his win was very workmanlike.
I would like to see him go on dirt, and I don't think distance is an issue with him, but I don't see Mott being the type to catch Derby fever and push a horse. I think Beyer figs are over-rated anyway.

*update
He has been nominated, and decision will be made with how well he trains over Churchill's surface.

Hi Cree,
Mott won't push a horse to run in the Derby, but it's hard to turn down the invitation if it comes your way. A 3YO only has one chance at the Derby and his ticket is all ready punched. No reason not to go along with it and see how things go. Mott shifts his base to KEE when he leaves Payson Park next month, so he will have plenty time to make the right decision for his owner's and his horse. TJ.
