The 'I-Love-Liver' thread
Wow! I always look at those horse-for-sale ads at the top of the window, but I never before saw a horse that I've seen running at the track;
Anwar Sadat
I've seen him on the NY circuit and found the orange tint in his tail very appealing.
Other probable liver-flaxens include Show Trial (also NY circuit, have not yet found a picture) and Roja Grande
--- I forget what track.
Love the livers.

I love that shade too. You see it a lot in QH, Arabs and Morgans for some reason. I love it when they are really dark and then have the really red or orange mane/tail!
What is Anwar Sadat's pedigree?
ETA: Never mind!

I've seen a few liver flaxens in other breeds, like Morgan.
In the 1950s Biblical movie, "The Story of Ruth," there is an utterly black horse with a Day-Glow orange mane and tail.
I need to see that movie again just because of him. Although, being a movie horse -- the makeup artists might have introduced a little Miss Clairol.

Maybe a Breyer model, lol.
This girl, Florida Quaker looks just about black, but she's chestnut. She won a race today at, uhm, Finger Lakes... the OTB channel is carrying all sorts of tracks and it's a little confusing.

My QH mare is a liver. My fav color. Her filly is a chestnut, but looks lighter. I was hoping she would darken up. She was late at shedding her baby fuzz out so I body clipped her. So that might be making her lighter.

This filly is magnificent!
She looks almost jet-black but has a brilliant orange tail. Raced today at Prairie Meadows, Race 4.
If I hadn't seen the post parade I would never have had an idea about her tail because it was not obvious in the race. She didn't place.
