At PRESENT, silver is not known to exist in TBs. That doesn't preclude a mutation from occurring. This horse is HIGHLY suspicious. In fact I've never seen another horse look SO silver that turned out not to be. That being said it is still HIGHLY unlikely as the known silver gene is in a location that is known to be highly unlikely to mutate. There are likely more logical explanations for this one (sabino, baby flaxen, actual flaxen, etc.)... but I'd still love to see her tested and I would keep some DNA on file permanently in case something similar ever cropped up again and a test was created.

Your right Linda........it sure didn't seem like any non TB folks were there just looking at the video. Usually QH and WB people are there to make purchases also. You could even tell the auctioneer was rushing them though more than usual, as if to say, "let's get this painfull process over with". He even got rude one time when a stallion was being bidded on and told one guy to bid or............I forget what he actually said, but he made a " hurry up and rush and by him" remark, and I thought to myself..........the buyer is trying to spend some good money on him, and your "rushing" him in a sale that is pittiful...........WOW! I'm sure the stallion owner appreciated that :?

Wow. Hujum was a 500,000 euro yearling at Deauville. He raced here twice, and showed not much, although he had 4 wins in Europe.

I cannot see anyone making a stallion out of him, and racing seems less than promising. What will become of such horses? Sigh.

Awe Phantom would be a nice match for my girl but I am hoping she's cooking one right now. Also I am in the habit of selling horses at the moment, not buying!

They've always been there but unless the horse became famous it is not likely any of us outside their "world" would know of them. Now we have the internet and pictures get spread far and wide. The dam is def. a carrier with at least 3 of these loud offspring and a bunch more with interesting names and no pic. Splash can hide in a very minimal form.

Hojum is probably either flaxen or sabino dilute or both. No silver in TBs.

Oh I'm aware of that Summerhorse... but you have to admit the frequency is increasing. Even people that have been in the games for YEARS and don't even go on the internet are noticing the change. I think it's due to people not breeding AGAISNT white anymore.

No silver in TBs... that we KNOW of.

I think silver would have shown up by now if it were there. It's dominant and pretty easy to trace and would definitely get noticed.

I do think the decreasing prejudice against white is helping.

If it had been there a while I agree, but that's not to say that it can't crop up.

Theres absolutely no reason to think it HASN'T shown up and just been registered as gray or chestnut. Or be there in bays/browns and just been minimal.
