According to the following link:

http://www.chronicleforums.com/Forum/sh ... ost4080627

apparently, the white colt was produced from Xanthus Farm's
mare, Barbara’s Song: http://www.pedigreequery.com/barbaras+song

Looks like a colt bred for the show ring. Wonder if they want to take him to the track. PA has a great program.

Entered in the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic (Timonium) Yearling Sale. Hip #50, I think.

I just saw him today - about 16 hands & one of those colts who will only get better with age. I think if he doesn't sell, there will be a partnership option to race him . . . http://www.xanthus-farm.com/xanthus_farm.cgi for more information.

As you can tell, I really like this colt on conformation & temperament. I haven't bought in, but am thinking about it, if he doesn't sell.

They had a white colt born this year too, The White FOx x Misty Isle x the Digamist.

The yearling is quite a handsome boy! Very nicely put together.

Apropos THE WHITE FOX, would like to read comments on what kind of mares may be suitable to breed him in order to increase the chances of obtaining a good allowance (or even a stakes) winner. His pedigree is so mainstream yet some people may view his breeding career as atypical... but why not expect from him a solid runner. Contrary to other sires, trying to predict the correct mares to breed him may prove quite arduous because people perceive him as a color sire and are not willing to analize his merits or concede him the possibility of siring a real good runner. Opinions.

how funny, I feel in part a little responsible for Barbara's Song... I can't take the credit but here's the story.

The mare Margaret's Song was for sale years back and when I looked up her pedigree I saw that she was a full sister to the dam of DORADORADORA and SKY DANCER, both by Runaway Groom. I thought I'd zip in and buy her cheap, breed her to Runaway Groom, and sell her in foal. Then the deal fell through, and I contacted the owner and told her that Runaway Groom was the horse to breed this mare to.

Now, whether my comments affected that outcome, I'll never know.

And as far as sage advice, it would appear that this magical mating I planned yielded a non running color producer. Probably best I'm just watching from the sidelines these days!

Wish BANACHEK all the best of luck. Interesting story.
Hope THE WHITE FOX makes it as a talented and prolific stallion.

My understanding is that if Banakcheck does not meet his reserve at sale, his owner/breeder will try to put together a racing partnership & send him to the track (and if all goes well, stand him afterwards).

The 2010 The White Fox colt at Xanthus is out of a mare who placed in a restricted stakes, from the extended family of Tar Heel Mom, Scrappy T, & Country Be Gold, as well as a number of useful regional runners. He is equally nice but a completely different body type from the 2009 colt. The little guy will be showing in-hand at the MD State Fair later this week, and my best guess (purely a guess) is he'll go the same route (sell or race in partnership) as the 2009 colt.
