Stallion stamping his foal

Postby docjocoy » Thu Jun 04, 2009 3:28 pm

I took these pictures of a stallion, on the farm where I board my horses, and his newbie foal. I was taken with the markings on the foal, and when I went to look at the stallion they were almost carbon copies. The stallion is Athlete, a $1 million dollar purchase back in the day. Sorry I don't know the pedigree of the mare. I thought you guys here might enjoy these pics.

Wow. Yeah, some do that. I can spot a Freud a mile away; just something about the blaze intensity and shape.

Oh, my god, I feel dumb. When I read the thread title I wondered who in the world would even LET the foal near enough to the stallion that he could get stamped!

Not all stallions are untrustworthy with foals Tbird. My AQHA stallion lived in a herd setting with his mares and foals, everyone together, and he was quite the papa. He played with the babies, and never EVER showed a single act of aggression, not even to the colts as they matured, prior to being sold. Perhaps that is not the norm, but there you have it.

You're so right, Bondama. I had one like that, too, years ago. Last son of Ed Echols.

Me too. But the stallion was a section A Welsh and the dam was a battle axe who schooled my TBs. I know what you mean about more coffee. ;) :D
