I would love to introduce Gatsby - Guaranteed Gold x Colour Conspiracy. Not sure of a registered name at this point but I've got a year right?
He was born June 7th and you can't really see it in the pics but he's a huge boy. I just thought I'd share and add another stat to Jorge's ever growing list.

Wow he's gorgeous. If he were dark chestnut he would look just like a drawing I made years ago especially his blaze. Neat!

He actually may be a Dominant White, and not Sabino. Which is too cool also. But if Sato is Dominant White, and a daughter who is marked like her sire is also Dominant White, then maybe the baby is too.

We should put our heads together and come up with another name for Dominant White. Something other than "well it is not sabino"

I personally think Dominant White is the perfect name for it.

Why is that the more I learn about colour genetics the more ignorant I feel? :?

Thanks for the nice comments... needless to say I'm thrilled with him. :) I don't need him to be "the first" "the only" or part of the biggest collection - I'm happy with a nice, well put together colt that has a use in this world. The only fault that I can find with him is he's a "he" and not a "she". Oh well.... he couldn't help it.

The trainer of Beyond Blonde sent the picture of Gatsby to the jockey and told him here is our next race horse after the palomino. I asked him if he wanted a buckskin or a smokey brown before he jumped to the double dilutes! :D

Genetics is such a fast evolving science that keeping up with what is now true is a major effort.

This whole Dominant White gene has been debated for years, does it exist? No it doesn't. Back and forth. I'm just glad to be around when they finally found the thing, and gee, it works just like the breeders said it did.
The single fact that made me think it was true was the breeding ratio of whites to color. The breeders were pretty consistently seeing a 2/3 to 1/3 ratio of white to color when crossing white x white. This was from several breeders in a couple of countries.

As for the name, great for the full expression, but not so much for the intermediate expression. Maybe borrow from the Great Dane folks and call it Dominant White & Harlequin.
