What a terrific name for her and what great news as well!!!

I had someone on another forum say " the reason you dont see any palomino or buckskin TB's in races is that they cant run as fast as bays and chestnuts do"

:? :? :? :?

I politely pointed out that palomino's and buckskin and yes - even WHITE TB's  have just as much chance of winning or losing races as any other colour does, if they are lucky enough to get good owners and trainers that train them intelligently according to their abilities and they get a good ride and good luck in the race

Same as ANY other colour TB out there ... :D

Hopefully nice results like this will start bringing "coloured" TB's to the forefront more and more ...

Which could be said about any horse really. The palominos/buckskins/whites don't to well in the show ring because they aren't as flashy movers/jumpers as bays/chestnuts/blacks. All depends on doing the best with what you have with a little bit of luck thrown in.

Hello, I will have to defend the palomino and white TB's. HELOIDORIS (white TB) http://www.geocities.com/rhftn02/Helioactionpage.html his dam is NATURALLY NICE a retired jumper and her dam's sire is MOKHIEBA:

MOKHIEBA IS THE 4TH ALL TIME LEADING STEEPLECHASE SIRE. Sire of hunters, eventers, and s'chasers. A bout of pneumonia as a three year old halted MOKHIEBA's racing career, but his full brothers and sisters were exceptionally sound and gifted multiple stakes winners.

HELIO has a great chance of being a super Eevnter actually. I bet he'd be the only white TB at his event.

ALLTHEGOLDNFTKNOX (palomino TB) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s49-kJCHwFg has great movement like Helio, and also stands a great chance in the ring. These two colts don't lack talent to show and will have the height that is greatly needed by h/j/d riders. This has been one major element I feel some colored breeders have ignored. None of my past clients in the last 10 years have called up wanting a 15.2 to 16 hand horse or prospect to show. Even the rider's that are 5'4 typically want a 16.2 hand mount or taller. If RHF's aren't bought for running they will be able to show, as we are not just breeding for color. Our mares have to be correct, but they have to also have a big trot and be able to free jump with good to exceptional form or they don't come here. Our boys are very handy O/F.

Maybe in the past there has not been palomino, buckskin, white, sabino, or overo TB's or WB's........but interests and requests are changing, it's only a matter of time before they will be gracing the judges with thier colorful wrappers!

Wow, does that ever look neat! How amazing to see that beautiful white body out on the track!

I too disagree. They have to be better. In a class of 20 with mainly bays and chestnuts, sorry but a palomino is going to stand out. (and personally, I think they are way more flashy than an old brown horse ;) ) Any mistake or misstep will be noticed. So instead of saying "ummm, which bay was it that did that?" the palomino will not only be noticed but many times judged more harshly since "TB's aren't supposed to look like that".

I wouldn't want to produce any horse that is not something to be very proud of, but I do realize the extra opposition to the coloured kids and that just makes me be even more careful with my choices.

The opposition is basing their judgments on some of the less than average colored young horses that have been in the market.
IMO some of the foals that have sold in the past are either pretty and very small and advertised as going to mature to 16.2 to 17 hands, colored and very unbalanced or can't move. World class riders and trainers are interested in adding color to their barns, but a lot of changes are going to have to happen with the mares some breeders use. Every year we try and improve our mares. Whether it be for pedigree, ht, possible better color genetics, race earnings, or show records. These are so important to be competitive because if color fails and it will like it did for me this am, (a chestnut colt instead of palomino) we still have to have a great baby that hopefully will be in a spotlight somewhere!

The percentage of TB's out of any given foal crop that make the races, much less win a graded stake is very low. That is including all colors.

So if for example the percentage is 10%, (a made up number by the way) and there are only 50 palomino TB's in the whole world, statisticaly there should be about 5 palominos that make it to the races.

Minus of course the horses that get diverted to other carears and are not pointed at the racetrack.
