Old picture help needed.

Postby Nessa » Sun Jul 19, 2009 10:32 pm

Someone on another forum is trying to identify some photos of oldtime TBs some of which are sporting color. If anyone can identify any of them, I'm sure they would appreciate the help. There are a couple of greys that I'm sure Jorge will be interested in. You can click on the photo to enlarge it. Thanks!

Only members can view photos & attachments. Are the photos up anywhere else?

I'll see what I can do to get the pictures to post directly to this forum.

Let's see if this works. Click on the image and it will take you to a album with the pictures, then click on the photo to enlarge.

Thoroughbred #1 appears to be Salvator. I have a different photo in a book, not the best shot (his head is turned) but the markings seem to match up.

#7, the grey, resembles Mahmoud, but I'd need to find a shot of him at a comparable age to know for sure.

The others will take a little more work. :)

Here's a picture of Mahmoud as a youngster. I don't think 6 is Mahmoud. The leg markings seem just slightly wrong.

Lucy I think that I've found more proof that the first horse is Salvator. How's about this for a match.

More information about the photos, apparently all of the horses are associated with Elmendorf Farm.

Wow, would really like to identify all those horses

The first one doesn't look like a Thoroughbred? As for the grays, who knows... Royal Minstrel?... Airborne?.... Abernant?
Lets see if other members can assist us.
