The sire Rockport Harbor, handsome and thick as he is, looks like a sire to watch for creating excessive white, beautiful guy!

I kind of doubt it, they show no signs of it in the photos, and thier dams were solid with solid parents.

The colt pictured looks like he is going to stay bay.

Rockport Harbor's dam passed along her white face so it does not surprise me that he is passing it along to his foals.

Crystal and I already went through the books last month and picked out our favorites. I'll probably make it down to see them in person. See which ones can sneak on the trailer. Hip #4 will contribute A LOT as a sire, he's one I'll watch for the future.

Why this equine was not registered as "black"?

Sold for $25,000.

Jorge: Because big/most racehorse breeders simply don't register black. It is too much of a fight to get The Jockey Club to accept black. That old saying of "if it has just one single brown hair, it's not a true black" still holds with TJC and many breeders. Even if a breeder DID believe one of their foals was black, it's highly unlikely they'd bother to register it that way. Slap a "dark bay or brown" on the papers and be done with it (is how they think).

However, I will give them this, as a foal it can be very difficult to tell a black from a brown so they may have not even known by the time they sent in the paperwork that the foal would shed out this black.
