Who is this horse?

Who is the white-leg-marked horse, racing in front, one furlong before the finish line, in the 1961 Jerome Handicap, won by Carry Back.

Looking at the chart, I believe the horse is Braxton Bragg.

Thank you very much for your message Lucy. I solely understood the wood "Braxton", and lost the rest in the verbal "melee" :lol: That equine makes perfect sense for his sire Billings was a clear sabino. Those 1950s and 1960s horse are always great finds.

Interestingly, in this same race was Garwol. Pedigree Query shows him as starting 154 times and being in the money 80 of those times. He raced for 8 years and was claimed from Harbor View, but they claimed him back and retired him to a paddock with Roman Brother. What a nice story! But 154 starts...Wow!!!

Interesting note on the gelding, Garwol (1958)! He later had a younger full brother named Woolie (1961), who made it as a sire. Most probably, they decided to repeat that cross due to Garwol’s merits and durability.
