For Jorge- My grey boy :)

Hi Jorge, I thought you may find something interesting in my grey boy's pedigree...I'm not sure what you look for with the grey lines but his grey comes from his sire's side and then splits with 'Poontoon'.

He is a true old fashioned English big boned National Hunt bred stallion...most people don't believe me he is full TB and say he must have some Irish Draught in him !lol

Wow, quite impressive size. Interesting referral, thats for sure!
Please post more details on him. Oh my goodness, I even double checked him to be sure his pedigree was not coming from the "allbreed" database. I earnestly appreciate this referral. Hey, his big bones are needed within the Thoroughbred breed! :wink:

Hi again Jorge

There's not many left with old NH lines because of the theory of adding speed to stamina.
Most NH horses are gelded before they race and so any NH lines left are mares..and they are few and far between now

I've wasted him to be honest

..I've only done low level stuff with him due to time, finances and personal circumstances when he was younger..and he has only had 6 foals because most of my mares are related to him.
The mares/foals belonged to other people who unfortunately haven't competed them

He's 19yo and just over 17hh....he was liver chestnut when he was born, but is white and flea bitten now lol

His grey sire Scallywag came 3rd in the St Leger and was 17.2hh..they say when he raced they had to extend the starting stalls because he was too big!

His bay damsire Cruise Missile was 17.3hh and won 9 over Fences and Hurdles (his dam Polaris Missile was a big winner over fences and also foaled Spartan Missile who came 2nd in the Grand National

His damline is mainly Eventers/Dressage/Jumpers.

I bred his bay 16.1hh dam who is 22yo and her chesnut 16hh dam was my first horse...I lost her Nov 2008 aged 34yo

I have his 5yo bay half sister (Primitive Passion aka Truly in my avatar) who's about 17hh and his 11yo dark bay half brother Primitive Missile who is a huge 17.3hh !

Oh and 3 of his foals are grey, 2 chesnut and 1 bay... 5 boys, 1 girl

I am really impressed with this solid boned gray sire.
Would really like to read comments on him from our coat color breeders.

If he is an entire horse, why not breed several mares to him? :idea:

..he is an absolute angel, a gentle giant

he is turned out every day next to all the other horses here and you'd never know he was a stallion really lol
He does sometimes call and prance about on the end of the lead rope just to let all the girlies see him lol..but it's all bravado!

Yes Dessie was a fantastic horse

...I was lucky enough to give him a pat over the stable door at a show once ..he was paraded there and while he wasn't parading he was in a stable so everyone could pat him...he was totally chilled and eating his hay even though there was 100's of fans queuing to pat him

Hi Jorge,
I've got my place up for sale as I want to concentrate more on breeding instead of liveries (boarders) and then I plan to buy somewhere with a lot more acreage.

So the reason I haven't used him much as a sire is because most of my horses are related to him and up until now those I have bred have been for my own personal pleasure and I keep them for life.
The mares he has covered have belonged to friends and liveries because I haven't advertised him.

It's only since buying Electrum that I decided I want to change my lifestyle and breed instead of mucking out other peoples horses the rest of my life.
I can't run a commercial stud from my place as I haven't much acreage and need what I have for my horses and liveries...so up till now have only bred occasionally.
If I buy a new place with more land I plan to get a couple more mares and Rocky (my grey boy) can 'share' some with Electrum.
I don't plan to breed too many myself because I find it heartbreaking to part with them...so I plan to run more of a 'stallion station' as I have some nice younger colts that are good stallion prospects.
That way I will have the acreage to accomodate visiting mares.

At the moment (until I sell my place) Electrum is going away to stand at stud because I can't accomodate visiting mares here.

Can only post pics of two of his foals at the moment.
The are of Uluhan and Leyla, full brother and sister, out of a Trakehner x Shire mare.
Uluhan is 5yo this year and he is away to start show Jumping and then he will be sold as his owner only wants mares and doesn't ride. (both are owned by the same guy)
Leyla is 9 months now and her owner plans to keep her. My daughter Laura is in the photo with her.

He is magnificent. His gray comes from Le Sancy on both sides of Pontoon.

Absolutely spectacular sport horse lines. If I were in the UK, I'd breed to him for hunters, jumpers and eventers. Even with WB mares. After all, we all know that the TB HAS to be on the top.

Hi Heather, Thanks about my boy

they used to add a sprinter to a stayer to get speed for the finish in the classier NH races....but kept adding it so there aren't any true NH stayers anymore really. The last 20 years everyone,s bred speed to speed and a diferent type of NH horse has evolved.
