First colored horse run in Germany

Postby color » Sat Feb 13, 2010 12:57 am

in May 2009 a pinto tobiano mare run with the TBs, she is not full TB but 3/4 TB and apparently got allowance to race. It was her first race and she came in last but got standing ovations and the most applause stealing the interest in the win of the first placed. Her owner and breeder said he was happy she saw what this is all about he knew she would not be first but all said she is a pretty horse and maybe one day also a fast horse. Nevertheles the MOST interest was in her from all over the world apparently. Here is the news video

There is a desire to breed for running colored TB's, the spectators will definitely prove that, when they start coming out more. It will take some time to get them bred well enough to pass the solids...........a venture that seems to be a struggle at times, but very attainable I think.

That's great! Makes me remember the efforts made in France by Madame Elisabeth Couturie to race a white crossbred descending from the white Thoroughbred (100% percent) Mont Blanc (1963).

Unfortunately, she unexpectedly died that year and the efforts were abandoned. In the case of Mont Blanc it was not really necessary because he was already a white Thoroughbred but, what if someone decides to use an appaloosa (imagine a leopard appaloosa!) or roan crossbred(genuine "R" gene carrier)? :D
