Guaranteed Gold / Puchi Trap *blingy* palomino colt arrived!

Postby TrueColours » Mon May 24, 2010 4:15 am

Early this morning Puchi Trap foaled out a VERY blingy palomino colt!

He was presented upside down and I couldnt get him re-positioned and he is huge as well - probably the biggest foal I have ever delivered, so between being upside down and stuck and huge - not a good combination to have at all!

Puchi Trap is exhausted and there was a lot of bleeding afterwards and the vet will be by shortly to check her out. I am crossing my fingers that she is okay - she was quite shock-y and colicky as well afterwards but seemed to respond well to the Banamine

They can both be seen at:

http://www.marestare.com/fcam.php?alias=truecolours

He probably has more white on him than his full brother - the Remember My Name colt. When you realize that there is a 4.25% chance of producing a blingy palomino foal and they have now done it twice out of 7 foals, it really is pretty darned amazing ...

Will get pictures posted shortly

Congratulations! I hope the mare continues to do well. This has definitely been the year for big foals.

Here are some inside pictures which as we all know arent as good as outside pictures ... Once the haybine leaves the area where I am going to turn them out today, they'll go out for a few hours and I can get some outside pictures as well ... the weather is stellar for the next week so we are cutting 3 fields of hay today as well ...

Here you go - his belly is a mass of white markings - you cant see it on these pictures at all, but as much white as Puchi Trap has on her belly - he has the same as well ...

His barn name is "Brickle" and I am still mulling over registered names for him. Any and all suggestions would be VERY much appreciated!

Will post the outside pictures of him shortly *IF* you can even see him! That paddock is thigh high in some places on me, so you might only get to see a bit of him peeking out over the top of the grass ... :D

And the chances of getting this colour/marking combination was 4.25%. Unreal huh?!

I am truly amazed at how big and developed this colt is for being - like - 6 or 7 hours old in these pictures!! :)

I think given the work she had to do, this one's name needs to be a tribute to mom.

Better Mousetrap (the world will beat a path to his door)

Trappings of Power (18 exactly)

Fur Trader

Coureur des Bois -- another kind of fur trader

Double Trap (a kind of trapshooting)

Other Trap ideas:

Wolf Trap Light--the lighthouse on Wolf Trap Shoal.

Released

Sand Trap--for golf lovers

Gold Vestments--trappings of clerical power

Actually I had a list of names put aside for when I had the perfect foal to match up with it and one of them was specifically for the next colt with 4 high whites

Well - this one qualifies in droves with THAT requirement :D , so the name was submitted yesterday to the JC, which is:

Four Feet of Snow

So I shuld know today or tomorrow if it was accepted which I cant see should be a problem at all ...

Thanks so much for all of the great suggestions! :)
