What an exciting weekend!! El Dorado went to his first show. I took him there to school so he did not compete. It was a *dry* run and could not have gone ANY better. He was SOOO good! I wish we entered him in a couple classes because he was so GOOD but the goal was to give him one show to take it all in without the pressure of competing. Of course I had MANY pictures taken. I took him on Friday and Sunday. The pictures I am going to post are from Friday. I should be getting the pictures that were taken on Sunday soon and will post them later.

So here is El Dorado at his first Dressage show. He is being ridden by Chandra Bierhuizen who is training with Diane Creech. Diane Creech is breeding one of her dressage mares to him this year!

Hanging out, taking in the sights before his training ride.

Found the rider. She just finished competing her 4th level gelding. Chandra fits him nicely.

I love his expression. He is such a happy stallion and really enjoyed his outting.

I am VERY impressed with him as was his rider. Next show should be an A rated one at Palgrave where he will be competing. Not sure what level he will start out in. That will be up to the coach and rider...

I also want to congratulate the rider (Chandra) on her Reserve Championships on her horses in level 1 and 4!!! Way to go girl

He looks great! I am so glad to see these great colored horses being ridden and shown. He looks like he is coming along very well.

I was wondering if you could elaborate more why your trainer would take him to a rated show for his first show to be judged over a schooling show?

Thanks HH!! Yeah, I agree I will be there waiting with camera for his first ribbon :) Red would be nice :D

I agree Squishy. I had spent two years showing my two other stallions (Mirabeau and Arts Aero) It is wonderful all the attention they get when at shows. There were NO coloured horses at this last dressage show.

There are many reasons we chose to school at a rated show. First is at an A rated show there are usually not as many young kids bombing around and playing which can be dangerous at schooling shows. At rated shows the rings are bigger with usually more than one warm up ring and the footing is nicer. We plan to show him on the A's so he needs to get use to all the BIG show stuff like golf carts, tractors harrowing, trucks watering, many horses, the group wash area’s and PA systems.

AND my rider was already showing her two horses at this show so he could be ridden between her ride times. It worked out perfectly.

For the same reasons he will be shown at an A rated show.

Plus; He is VERY nice and deserves to be up against the BEST horses in whichever division/level they chose to put him in. I think they will start out in level one but we shall see. I also want him to be seen by the pro's and people who might be interested breeding to him so we go to the A’s…

Well I wish you guys the best of luck. I guess the shows down here in FL are different then up there. At our schooling shows we have all the same things as your rated shows. And to be honest we don't have very many junior riders in the dressage shows. Hunter jumpers are a different story.

He will defintely make an impact no matter where he shows he is such a pretty boy. And to be honest I don't ever remember seeing any horses his color at any dressage show. I have seen palomino qh but never any tbs or wbs. MOst dressage riders seem to like the dark horses. Not to mention I brought it up one time at a show and no one even knew about dilute tbs so I am very excited to see how he does. Please keep us posted.

I think he would be a perfect match for my mare, its just a shame the jc dosn't do AI and that you are sooo far away from me.
