Interesting looking filly.. bay??

She has her color listed as bay. Unusual looking color.

She's in the pedigree database as zoomzoom bell. Equineline lists her color as bay/dark brown. Check out the photo of her dam Turko Bella. She looks like a dark buckskin.

Male tail to Secretariat. No known cream color lines.

The more I look, the more I just don't think so. I really think something is going on here.

The older mare I would say sunbleached, until I see the younger one and it screams buckskin to me. I got an idea. How about we go (or send someone in the area) to look at them, and swipe some mane hairs while they are there I'd be willing to chip in for a test. I even like the older mare but not in the market for another horse.

I am a little intrigued by her darker face. Who knows if sun bleach is the real explanation, but I really don't know. If not the case, then it looks definitively auspicious.

I emailed the owner. She said they both turn very dark bay in winter, very faded in summer.
