I would like to coincede with the view that this is a rare white area for the benefice and satisfaction of all of us. I would really like to be wrong on this one but since:
01. This horse looks like a conservatively phenotyped equine;
02. Has a whitish mane area just adjacent to the white area under scrutiny (hmmm, what a "coincidence:!); and
03. This is not the first time I have seen yesteryears photos with "unexpectable" white spots that responds to contrast tricks on the development of the photograph, I don't think this is a white mark.
Again, I hope to be wrong but.....hmmmmmm-nnnnnnnnooooooooo!

I borrowed this from Tb Heritage were the photo had been touched up to make the white go you can see where someones tried to cover it
then I colourised the photo I had and you can see the white more clearly
