They can be. They aren't always. Sometimes they are just really loud, but 100% white is a possibility.angrovestud wrote:I did not know that Homozygous splash were all white ?

To me, it's kind of strange to see all these foals with so much white eligible for AQHA registration because for so long the AQHA wouldn't register horses with more than a certain amount of white (as in much above the knees/hocks or with belly spots or white under the chin -- very typical sabino markings).
Even the white one is AQHA eligible I guess, since DNA parentage testing is now the requirement. Heck, the AQHA even registered one with an Appy blanket a few years ago because DNA said he was who his breeder said he was.

Here's the blurb under the white filly. Is there a possibility that one parent is DW??
*Interesting story going on with this filly. Both parents are splash overos.
Animal Genetics are doing a study on this girl. In all respects, this filly
should have been a splash chestnut/ - 100%. She tested negative for the Sabino gene.
They haven't seen anything like it and are saying it is rare - Homozygous (SplSpl)
for the splash overo gene. Dominate White (W)?

No neither parent is DW. Both parents are minimal/loud splash and neither have the production record of a DW.xfactor fan wrote:Here's the blurb under the white filly. Is there a possibility that one parent is DW??
It IS possible that this filly is a new mutation of DW, but IMO it's a much much much much greater chance that this filly is just homozygous splash. Especially with her blue eyes.

They...both QH and Paints changed that rule in 2005 I believe.....
QH would accept the "painted" Quarter horses as long as the parents are both registered QH.....and for that baby to be a "paint" at least ONE parent has to be registered as a Paint....
Those foals are CUTE I forget how muscular the QH are...
Good Luck to them...

This is the bit that is confusing, do they suspect DW? Or is this just a guess from the ad copy writer?
I doubt it as that's the wrong spelling of Dominant. ROFL

Gunner has a bunch. Gunsandwhiteroses is the most "famous of them." A few of the other fairly well known splashes have a few. Ill see what I can grab.angrovestud wrote:I think its quiet rare to have an all white splash isant it do you guys have any pictures of any all white splash's as I have never seen any.
