OK--what the hell are those spots? I thought Bend Or were on chestnuts, and were bigger and more towards the hindquarters.

IMO, he's simply wet. A cloud opened up for a moment or he walked under a sprinkler on the way to the shoot or something. If not then he's had some bug bites that caused him to lose some hair there or something. My mare had something very similar but it grew back in normal. It's not color related at all IMO.
