Pedigree Query

I know she's not loaded with color, but I wanted some honest opinions on this mare as a sporthorse broodmare prospect to breed for hunters. I just keep going back to this mare for some reason. I am partial to chestnuts. Opinions on conformation and pedigree welcome.

To my eye, she is VERY straight behind. That's a future of hock injections and a sore back. If I were looking to breed a sporthorse, I definitely would not want to risk having that in a foal.

She also appears to be standing on a slight slope, making her look more level than she might otherwise be. If you draw a line from the bottom of her front hooves straight back, you'll notice that it hits at the coronet band of her hind feet.

Depending on her movement, she might make a nice riding mare, but I wouldn't use her for breeding.

I see what you say about her being on a slope. She might be really downhill. I wish her tail wasn't in the way of her hind legs. Sometimes I need a second set of eyes for things that I overlook.

Do you think you could get another set of pictures, on level concrete, or have somebody you know go look at her? It occurred to me that standing on a slope like that might make her look post-legged, the way morgans and walkers who are parked out look straight behind. Or the photo could be as honest as a morgan dollar.

Hate the shoulder and neck and hate the hind end even more and I find she is bordering on coarse - not a feminine or refined looking mare at all ...

I would pass on her - honestly ...

Better photos might help. She's standing on a slope, and not square to the camera, making her proportions seem odd. The change in perspective may make her look light behind, and larger in front and the head.

I don't think she is going to be sound enough for me anyways...I want a mare that can be shown. Thanks for the help.

And I hate horse shopping...I am the worst at it. I am probably a sellers worst nightmare I can't make up my mind, I lose interest after surfing thru thousands of mares. There is nothing in Michigan (that I like) so its almost impossible for me to see anything in person. I give up already. The track in MI is closed so tbs are almost unheard of here. I may be exaggerating a little. And it seems like all the mares are grey that are near me. Maybe next year

After talking with them about this mare I am not 100% sure what her injury really is and I don't feel comfortable with that.
