Pedigree Query

Hi,

I'm planning for trips the rest of the year...mostly just dreaming...not sure what will happen. But I can dream!

What colorful TB farms/horses are located around (esp. 'below') Toronto? I know of Blazing Colours, Flying Colours and True Colours farms...and I remember Snowy River being up there, possibly to the right of Toronto...but I know they were trying to sell him and he might be sold by now.

Also, I'm curious who might have unusually marked/extra-special foals, but most sites I can find don't have many 2011s listed. As so many farms are selling off their herds, I'm not sure who's still at it 'full bore'....

I'd also be interested in any really unusually marked TBs who might have come from major farms but be located at small farms, too...just to get as nice a rainbow/medley as possible.

The Northern California farms have had a rash of gorgeous foals this year (Glenhill and Gray Fox namely but I'm sure they're not alone).

There's a farm near Toronto standing a white stallion you photographed when he was younger. Man I can't remember his name right now. Let me see if I can find them. Here we go:

They had some neat frame babies recently but I don't think they have them anymore.

Echo Hill in KY has had a few interesting babies in the past couple of years. I'm not sure what they had this year.

It's always worth checking with Freud's farm but given the proximity I'd bet you already have.

Oh... who was it on here that had the CRAZY colored foal born lately?? THAT'S one you need to see. Reed Hill in TN. Yes, yes, you need to go there. Several interesting horses there.

Of course there's my "solid" baby who's positive for frame overo and is half TB anyway. LOL!

That's all I can think of at the moment but I'll keep thinking on it.

Mission Ridge with Snowy River is north of Toronto, but she still has some colored tbs for sale. I know Arctic Cielo that I use to own is up north there somewhere now also (Cando colour?)

I remember that sweetie Arctic Cielo - such a beauty! Thanks for the info - I could always contact that farm and ask if they have any foals around that aren't on the site (probably don't..but...) ... I've already photographed Arctic Cielo, but it could be fun seeing him again, too.

I checked out Echo Hill's site - thanks for the thought! I sometimes fly into Louisville and I've pestered Echo Hill before. They're great!

Don't think I don't want to go to Reed Hill - zoiks, hubba hubba!!! I Mapquested the distance the day I saw the thread about the amazing foal...but it's such a long drive from Lexington (where I go occasionally). I was hoping it would be, you know, 2 hours or less each way.

And ACC, I'm absolutely going to pester you, too, whenever I get back to KY. Meant to go there this month but I just got caught up with things...sigh. You know how that goes! Wish there were many more days in a month....

Hi Barbara - how exciting if you do make it out this way once again and can come to True Colours Farm this time!

Other than those mentioned, the Puchi Doll mare was sold and is in foal to Guaranteed Gold (for a 2012 foal though) and is about 2 1/2 - 3 hours due north of me. Here is a current picture of her taken just before she left on the weekend:



Sort of along the way between our place and where she is located would be Flying Colours Farm a bit off to the east.

The other possibility is the American Iris mare with her 2011 Guaranteed Gold filly - Pixilated:



They are about 2 1/2 - 3 hours east of me and would be on the way to Mission Ridge and/or Adell Equine / Cando Colour

What I have here currently is Guaranteed Gold (cremello), RFF Pearlescent (perlino), the 2011 GG / Pearl filly - Luminescent (cremello), TCF Nightlight (smoky black), Four Feet of Snow (palomino), Puchi Trap (bay).

If I can think of anyone else, I'll add to the list!

Barbara, if you haven't already shot Nightlight she is one you should consider IMO. Highly, highly photogenic horse and VERY unusual markings. Four Feet of Snow is a fun one too. If you haven't shot a cremello as a foal either that's kind of interesting.

TrueColours, Thanks SO much for the helpful information! Wow...just the type of thing I was wondering about. Darned shame Puchi Doll is sold, but at least she's not too far away. I have another dream - and this one will never happen - to photograph every living Puchilingui. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Your farm would absolutely be on the 'hit list,' no doubt about it!

American Iris is lovely, too. I remember trying to see her last time I ventured north, but she was a bit too far off the beaten path (or I couldn't find her...one or the other).

Does anyone know if Artic Color's still around? She was a Trinity Breeders' mare, but I think they dispersed their stock. ?

ACC....Nightlight would be a must-see .... Never seen anything quite like that...and I've ogled the photos of Four Feet of Snow, of course. Oo la laaa.

Barbara - Artic Color sold to a client of mine in VA - right around Warrenton. She had her GG baby and was bred to the buckskin TB stallion Brilliant Intuiten as well

On the note of Puchilingui offspring, the lovely Artic Squaw mare - the full sister to Artic Color - died of a ruptured uterine artery last Friday. She went quickly and calmly after nickering to her newborn colt and laying beside him as she passed. Her owner said she was gone in about 5-8 minutes and there was nothing that could have been done for her ...

We have 1 cemello possibilty and 3 possible overo possibilities left for 2011.
(14) possible overos for 2012 and of course some dilutes.
Will make for an interesting season though.

Yeah but that one filly... that's just special. That's worth any drive IMO.

And True Colours, I get to the Warrenton area fairly often...so one more reason to go there....

And reedhill, I know!!! Would LOVE to see your horses, sigh... Once I drive to KY (about 14 hours each way), I just can't bear to keep driving. But that's not saying I won't get extra energy some time! ACC, how far a drive is it for you? Wish there were so many more days in a week.

I'm praying for at least one pasture full of overo foals next year out of Remarquez.
It might be worth the wait to come next year, so to have lots to photograph.
Maybe a plane ticket could be a birthday present I will have to work on this
