This is a good one for the Oakland track and Old Santa Anita. Good mainly for 1910 and before. Very easy to browse, and search:

Avenue to waste hours and days
Moderators: Roguelet, WaveMaster, Jessi P, Lucy
The first 3 entries are downloadable Racing Calendars (chart books) for years 1961-9. Published in the early 1900s. The indexes are near the back of each volume:

Just a notice that they are slowly adding issues to this site. I've noticed some in 3 different years.

Old magazines which contain horse racing features. A table of contents in front pages of the issues will link directly.

Here's a quirky site that contains NY newspapers that other search engines can't find. The search feature isn't perfect, but you can (kinda) search by date if you change the "sort by" drop-down menu on the left hand side. I've found a lot of info that was otherwise unavailable.

Here are several DRF articles written by W. S. Vosburgh, regarding the top 2 yos, 3 yos and older horses for 50 years straddling the turn of the 20th Century:

A few of the names are not common household ones, and had interesting careers.

Here is an incredible library of downloadable books from the Seavern's collection. Nursery Stud. Algeria Stud. etc. etc.

Another library with old horse racing books. It gives full access to some books that Google Books only gives limited views to.
Morning Telegraphs, for example

Krik's guide for 1883 (vol 1) is available at the very bottom of the list:

Thanks for the very interesting links!
I've stumbled upon the first mentioned library, or rather specific articles, before. Indeed interesting!
I am using Google book search (only free downloads) a lot and here are some titles that might be interesting:

I am using Google book search (only free downloads) a lot and here are some titles that might be interesting:
- General Stud Book (of course...)
Turf Register
Mecklenburgs Pferde Rennen
Verzeichniss der Preussischen Vollblutpferde
Journal des Haras (tons of them, unfortunately there are different books/years with the same volume number...)
Stud Book Francais (I think that was the name?)
Best wishes,
