Anyone familiar with the Fingerlakes Race Track?

Postby KerryBrooke » Wed Aug 02, 2006 8:55 am

So... first, I'm new to the forum... so Hi! everybody!
Second, I purchased/saved a TB from a dealer in May/June who claimed to have bought the horse from the Fingerlakes Track earlier this year. Since the dealer bought the horse for meat, he didn't get papers or a registered name w/ the animal. I was wondering if (on a whim) anyone on this forum works at Fingerlakes and
a. may remember the dealer if I PM his name and/or description
b. might remember the colt : he was supposedly just turning 3 (although his teeth look 2), from kentucky, 15.3ish, is a dark, seal bay with a very distinct 'ring' for a hind sock and just a few hairs of white on his face. Very pretty head, with a really kind eye and is all leg and shorter backed. He is the kindest, sweetest colt I have ever met and really loves people. Someone obviously spent some time w/ him. It is possible he could have an old knee injury, as his right knee is slightly larger than his left with some scar tissue on the inside, but it appears to be cosmetic now. Supposedly he just didn't make the cut to run i.e. he likes to sleep and eat much much more... He came with a nylon blue and grey halter on I believe, and was purchased with another bay colt, that was pretty klunky in build and could be a ridgling for $600 together.

So I know this is a long shot, but I'd love to find out who this horse is simply for sentimentality.
Thanks!
Kerry

Kerry, welcome.

The colt may have been tattoed on hip upper inside lip. If he is, you can contact the Jockey Club at 800 444 8521 and they can help you with the rest.

Just bumping this back up to see if anyone else may have some info on him...
He is *not* tattooed... which makes me question A LOT of things...
But he's definitely just 2 1/2... he just lost his front center caps..:-D... I originally purchased him for resale.... but I've totally fallen in love... I've named him "Kinderleicht", "Kinder" for short... It means "Child's Play" in german.
I plan on registering him w/o pedigree info with the PHR with that name... but optimally would really like to add his JC name and pedigree. My equine chiropractor suggested that part of the reason he may have been sold w/o papers is because he was a colt of storm cat lines... He mentioned that a lot of SC's that don't run are just automatically shipped to the meat buyers; it's in his experience that they don't make good retrain prospects and obviously, because SC is known as a sire of sires, they didn't want anyone standing him at stud for $$.
I don't know... I just listen to the guy as he works on my horses... food for thought I suppose..

I can provide pictures if any one thinks they may be able to identify him....
Thanks!
