1928 mare, possibly spelled Grey Fister

I don't see either spelling in my old APR, but the pre-1940 stuff there's a little spotty.

Any other clues you may have - country of birth, names/dates of foals - might help!

How 'bout Gray Sister gr m 1928 x *Royal Canopy - Circus Banner x Hippodrome?

I put her in the db in case she's the one you're looking for. There are three foals listed in her TB produce rcd., Gray Sis 1932 f x *Slieve Roi, Gray Chance 1935 f x First Chance, and Sister's Arab 1940 c x *Rahal(Arab).

The only other information I have is that she had an angloarabian foal in 1944 by Indraff named Cherry Dawn. It gives JC#283840, but I don't think that helps much.

Am assuming that's the # for the dam of Cherry Dawn(?), since the first two digits should indicate the year foaled.

I suspect that Gray Sister & Grey Fister are the same mare, the latter 'version' being the result of a transcription error at some point. There's no record of a Grey/Gray Fister in the North American TB rcds. that I can find, & Gray Sister was born the same year & bred to at least one Arab, per the APR.

I suspect you are right, and that it should be Grey Sister. It wouldn't be the first time there was an error in the online Anglo database. Thanks again.
