Mr. Prospector?

Postby chokeher » Wed Aug 23, 2006 1:37 pm

Does anyone here have a horse that is related to Mr. Prospector.?
Or does anyone have a horse that is related to High Style or Mogambo?

Thanks!
Tara

We just gave away a horse that was by Mr. Prospector, it was in his 3rd generation on the sire's side. Why you ask?

Mr. Prospector was one of the most successful sires of his generation (he sired over a thousand foals  ), and though he has passed on his sire line remains very popular. :) I'm sure you'll won't have any trouble finding folks with horses related to him....the problem will be narrowing it down!

Your dude's sire Mogambo was a fun little racehorse who hit the triple crown trail back in '87, winning the Gotham Stakes and placing in a couple other big prep races, but didn't do so well in the TC - 10th in the Derby & 6th in the Belmont. He had a reputation for being something of a goofball, which is partly why I liked him. He sired a few okay runners, but never really achieved popularity as a sire, and was exported to Japan in the early '90s.

Mo Style himself must have been a pretty durable guy - he spent nine seasons on the track and raced 87 times. :)

No, I never met him.....I got the info from the American Produce Records, which contains the breeding records of all American TB mares, and the race records of their foals. :)

Sorry for my tardiness but I knew Mo Style very well and his trainer at Fort Erie was a quiet achiever. Your horse was a funny gaited guy with a stringhalt I believe but he ran gamely a won several races.
