I believe the 1874 winner may have been "Aaron Pennington", not Baron. He was born in 1871 and ran third in the Belmont Stakes.

There was a "Sligo" that was born in 1878 and was running in 1881. In fact he ran 4th in the Kentucky Derby that year.
