OK....here's a head shaker for everyone: I have just purchased a 2004 bay gelding (was just gelded in Dec.) by Officer out of Cajun Cat by Storm Cat. This horse sold last April at the Keeneland 2 y/o in training sale for $240,000.
Apparently he is very fast.....for about 2 furlongs!!!!! He thinks he's a QH.
I am awaiting his arrival for training as a hunter, we like em' slow!
I was told his name is Zagato, I have a coggins but not registration papers, per previous owners (they did not want him to race). His halter says Zagato, however it is not a sales halter.
Anyway, I have since looked him up and on his Keeneland sales page his name is spelled Zegato, not Zagato. In the JC registry there is a 2004 Zegato, and a 2004 Zagato. On this site, he is listed as Zagato (with correct pedigree). In American Produce Records he is listed as Zegato (with correct pedigree) On Brisbet and Equibase, under his dam's name, he is listed as Zagato. So unless mom had twins, there is a big mistake somewhere!!
Now I would assume that at the sale Keeneland triple checks registration papers.....right????
Any ideas about how the heck you spell my horse's name??
Will the real Zagato please stand up.....

No, no real idea, although when he worked out at Saratoga and Belmont last summer it was under the spelling "Zagato".
Of course that only duplicates one of your other sources most likely.
note of interest: his workouts were quite slow compared to the rest over four and three furlongs.
Something noteworthy had to have taken place for someone to give up on a $240,000 purchase so quickly.
Same puzzle, more pieces.
