How to get registration papers

Postby Rubytuesday » Tue Aug 28, 2007 1:47 pm

Hi
I am looking into buying 2 Tb mares that raced.
The breeders of the 3yr old never want her to race again so will not give her papers and the 5yr old, I have to contact the breeder.
Is there another way of getting the papers of the 3yr old.

I don't want to race her but I would like to have her papers.

Thanks

No. If the owner is in possession of valid papers and will not relinquish them, there is no way to replace them. If you push the owner, he could easily turn them in to the JC marked "sold without pedigree" and you would be really screwed then. If your intention is to breed, you could ask him for a photocopy, to satisfy non-TB registries or regional race registration programs. Otherwise, you don't need her papers to register her TB foals.
