In May of 2004 I was checking out horse sale internet sites. I ran across alot for free. but one seemed to get my attention. thoroughbred mare free to good home. it was nothing impressive. But I called and the person on the other end said that tomorrow she is going to slaughter. and I assured her that I would take her and not to send her there. she agreed to wait until I could arrange transportation. So when she showed up my heart fell through the ground. The mare was a shadow of a horse. she looked like a giant bone with skin on it. her head dragged the ground and was all scraped up from the ground. she had wormers, sicker than anything, rain rot all over her back and down her legs, thrush in all four hooves, and that was just for starters. We put her in her stall where her feed bucket was already filled, fresh water, mineral salt block, an apple block, hay bag filled with fresh hay, and straw 1 1/2 feet deep. the next day we bought a thicker fly blanket. She spent the first week in the lean to during the day. we did not know what to do. so we went to a horse sale. found a filly under a year that was also in bad shape( someone had taken blood out of her under her head, to make her docile). we put the 2 together. then the most amazing thing happened. my thoroughbred went from bones weighing only 550 pounds at 16.2 hands tall to 1200 pounds in less than 5 months. now she looks like all the thoroughbred pictures you see. her standing tall and full of life. So I decided I wanted to try to find out what her family was and to my surprise this free thoroughbred was a decendant of NASHUA, the world champion. So now I am trying to find out any information on my horses family and there locations. I already looked on this site by no information. if anyone can help out there please do so. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
