Help please.....info on Iron Man

Postby briarhalo » Wed Mar 16, 2005 3:03 pm

Looking at purchasing this ex-racehorse. I understand he has done a fair amount at the track, would love to know any info on him. SOmeone told me he has won a substantial amount of money. He is 12 year old chestnut, gelding. I tried to run him on pedigree site but that didn't work. In the JC listings there are quite a few Iron Man's sot I am going with the 93 model by Fred Astaire x Algenib. Any info on him is greatly appreciated. Oh, by the way, not sure how to figure out year of birth by tatoo but his starts with an H. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks Claire

Shows him as unraced. Regarding the lip tattoo, It Can't Be an H.... If he was in fact born in '93 it should be a W. H is 2004 or 1978.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

The funny thing is someone had actually said he won close to 1 million at the track.....hmmmm. Not that it matters for the show ring......

I'd be very surprised if the 1993 Iron Man is yours-- this particular horse was bred & raced in Brazil, and fairly unsuccessfully at that. I doubt that a horse like that would have been imported. But nevertheless, if this is your horse, the record is as follows:

9-2-1-1 $11,252

And none of the "Iron Man's" raced very successfully. Definitely no million-dollar earners in the bunch.

Thanks for the info all......funny how some show barns will tell you stories about them. Not that the amount of money he won was important as he was in the hunter ring but why exagerate so much? So makes me wonder what else is being hidden.......thanks again. Claire

The first thing that leaps to mind is that his registered TB name is not Iron Man. It's possible that that's just a nickname he received for being such a hard-knocking horse, if he did indeed grind out a significant amount of money the hard way. Although there just aren't that many millionaires out there that will fit his profile (age, color, gender), so it does make you wonder.
