I have a stallion prospect-Pride Of New York by Mt. Livermore 0/0
Peruvian Pride by Baldski that is Black (he is regestered as a dark bay but he is black-including his muzzle) with 3 white legs and a white star and strip. Can you tell me where the color comes from.
Thanks,
Ed

My thoughts
I am not a color expert but if you are asking where he got the black from, it would be his mother. Judging from the pedigree his genetics would be Ee. He got e, which is red/chestnut from his father a chestnut, and E, which is black, from his dam, a dark bay apparently. She also apparently did not pass on the Agouti gene to him, which is the gene that "makes bay" by regulating the black to the points and allows the red to show in the main body. Since he seems to lacks Agouti, and black is dominant to red, he is black in color, but has the ability to pass on either E or e to any foals he sires.
If you are asking where he got the white markings, I cannot be sure, but he has a line to Northern Dancer through his dam, and ND is very well known for passing white markings and sabino if I remember correctly. I can't say if he has sabino or not without pictures or a bit more description of his markings, but he probably got the chrome from his line to ND would be my guess
Hope that helps a little!
