PLAYTIME PEDIGREE HELP

Postby vvogeli » Sun Jun 26, 2005 4:38 pm

Seeking pedigree information for two horses that we owned when living in Kenya.

The first PLAYTIME was a TB gelding, bay, age approx. 7 years in 1968. Was purchased from an agent for the owner/trainer. Was English bred, imported to Kenya and raced as a steeplechaser. My mother recalls that his dam’s dame was possibly named PLAYPEN. Retired when we purchased him in 1968. Attempts were made to retrain him as a hunter but just could not get it through his head that hell bent for leather isn’t always best, especially when you pass the Hunt master.

The second is a real long shot. JENNY WREN, TB mare, bay, age approx. 28 in 1968. Not certain that she was English bred so little hope here.

I have searched the database with no luck and have tried to find a like site based in Britain. Have also tried contacting the Jockey Club in Kenya with no luck.

Any info. or suggestions about persons that I might contact in Britain would be freatly appreciated!

No luck so far on Playtime, but I found two possible Jenny Wrens.

JENNY WREN, an Irish-bred, foaled in 1952, by Nearco x Fair Ranger (foaled 1943)

JENNY WREN, a South Africa-bred, foaled in 1953, by Colchis II x Spinning Jenny (foaled 1948, in South Africa).

I'll keep looking around. The South African pedigree site (http://www.aro.co.za./) is a fairly good place to look, but there was nothing on Playtime, and as you can see, no solid leads on Jenny Wren - only suppositions.
