The only Potentiate in my APR is a 1980 colt x Foolish Pleasure - Victoria Star x Northern Dancer. No mares named Potentiate or anything close to it. Is Potentiate maybe your mare's sire? Or a barn name?

Potentiate stood stud in Massachusetts in the '90s, I seem to recall that he passed away a few years back, though. Most, if not all, of his foals were bred here in New England, and he did fairly well as a sire of Mass-breds. Did your horse come from Suffolk Downs?

I worked with a Potentiate filly a long time ago, named See Her Strut. Far as I know she was Potentiate's only gray foal, so if your mare is grey it's probably her.

I know it can be confusing... in the world of Thoroughbreds we use "out of" referring to the mare (dam) since that's where the foal actually comes from. "By" refers to the stallion (sire). In the QH world, they have reversed it somehow to refer to the SIRE, which makes no sense to me at all  .
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
