Horse at auction last night in Ohio

Postby Tinkers Belle » Sun Nov 27, 2005 8:15 am

Hi everyone, I was at a horse auction last night and a very sad looking Thoroughbred went thru the sale and sold for $200. The person who was riding him (owner wasn't there) said that his name was Native Grit, he was a chestnut gelding?...who was around 13 years old. She thought the sire was American Grit. I have found 2 matches one born in 1987 in NZ and the other in 1994, neither by A. Grit...I think she must have had the sire and age wrong. I believe Native Grit is a horse that used to race at River Downs, Beulah Park in OH. Can anyone tell me anything more about this horse? I'm afraid this horse has gone to a horse trader and I just wanted try and figure out if he did race in Ohio. On the other hand he looked neglected or older so part of me wants to go with the 18 yr. NZ (this horse is chesnut like the one I saw and there was no color listed for the 94 horse) native grit but I don't think he raced in Ohio. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I already have two older TBs but I'm going to try and find someone to save this guy before he disppears! Thanks. Jennifer

My APR has -
Native Grit, c, 1994 x Native Uproar - Misty Dream Doll x Clarion Message. Raced at least 4 yrs.

Native Grits 1982, c, x Native Aid - Blooded x Gun Shot. Raced 3 yrs.

Don't know where either of them raced. Sorry. Native Uproar was standing in Ohio in the 90's.

Thanks...I bet it is the 94 Native Grit because of all the Ohio connections. Thank you. Jennifer

Confirming that Native Grit (1994) is chestnut, and that he won two of 44 starts, both at River Downs in the spring of 1998
