Overture 1937
She's listed as a reine de course. What's her claim to fame?

Of her ten foals to race, all but one won or placed in stakes (and the one that didn't ran 116 times!). All in Europe, though, so it's little wonder she doesn't ring a bell.
Many of those stakes horses were daughters, no doubt they bred on to earn their mom the Reine designation.
That's just what I can glean from peeping at her APR entry....if you'd like, I'll look into it more tomorrow.

Thanks Lucy! You and your chicken are always so helpful
Actually I'm just interested in one of her offspring and a granddaughter which would be Sea Symphony (1944) by Fairhaven and Welsh Rhythm (1958) by Abernant. I'm researching the sire of one of my mares and the family is all European so the info is kind of spotty.

Oh, trust me, it's all the chicken's doing. But thanks.
Sea Symphony did all her producing in Europe, and the chicken has no references that can really help out there.
However, it looks like the most potent producer from Sea Symphony was her '49 daughter, Star Melody, whose line scattered stakes winners across Europe (check out the progeny on her granddaughter Evonsville
).
Of Overture's other daughters, stakes-placed Andante founded a strong female line in South America, including recent US stakes winner High Court. Flirting also founded a family of stakes runners in Europe (including Champion filly Marwell), but her line has not produced anything of note since the '80s.
Kind of spotty, but hopefully that gives you a little insight...
