I am always after her to do more with her considerable talent but her own horses, Tennessee Walkers and Walker/Friesan sporthorse crosses, take up much of her time. Our recent dabling in the Thoroughbred industry, while a lot of fun, also prevents her from writing.
She is/was a huge Seattle Slew fan and we had the incredible good fortune to have had an audience with him just months before his death. Her article in TB times deals with the impact that this event and her lifelong obsession with horses has had on her life.
This past week, I happened upon a framed/signed picture of Slew's last portrait with the owners. Included in the framing was the brochure (not the correct word) handed out at his funeral, two roses taken from atop his casket and one of his shoes -taken with permission. In the back of the picture was the Lexington Times from the day after his death. Also, the catalog sheet from his sale at Keenland for 17.5k with the notation in the margin, "very nice". It will be conspicuously displayed along with the framing of her original (the TB Times editor butchered the original for brevity) writing on Slew's passing. I just gave it to her yesterday and she was overcome. Couldn't wait 'til Christmas. It was also a peace offering for not helping much with the recent move. Strategic
I am a Nurse Anesthetist and what little writing I have done is not worth mentioning.
I am delighted with myself that I recognized that you were a writer. 25 books!!! This must be your profession. What do you write about? Where do you live? I would love for my wife to meet a writer of 25 books!
You must have had something to do with horses for some time as you seem very informed.
Looking forward to further correspondence.
