ok, I am thinking of sending Ceasefire to Best Of The Bests next year in Canada. I REALLY like him, and I think its a good cross with her.
She is Ceasefire (FR) 1999 16.1hh (Big girl) by Doyoun out of Oak Kala, by Bikala
She has a yearling by Equality (MI bred) and a weanling by Black Minnaloushe. She is in foal to Castledale
She is not a winner. Her dam is a winner (said staked placed in a catalog from france) and her 2nd dam is a Group 1 winner.
I am mainly breeding her to race.. I might sell the Castledale foal depending on how it looks. She throws BIG babies.
Anyone have an opinion on him.... ?

I guess I should have checked this board before I posted in the stallion section.
I am also interested in breeding a mare to Bests. His pedigree will cross well with my mare. Windfields is having their annual open house on Dec. 3 so I will be able to go and assess him (I'll let you know what he looks like). I breed to sell so the comments about him throwing a dishy front end worry me a little, however I'll see what he looks like first.

I was looking as well at BofTB thought he was great for Ontario.. Very disappointed to learn of the front end issues. I need to go out to Windfields and have a look at him. Mood Swings is it possible to get you to email me the pictures you took? I have it on good authority that Best was one hell of a race horse horse with a huge heart (i always think heart is at least 1/2 the battle). If we looked closely at Storm Cat or even A.P. Indy they are not 100% correct. That said, if you were to use him you would defintily want to start with a pretty correct mare.
I have also been looking at Niigon. At first glance i was worried about the only stake having been won being the Queens Plate (closed). However, i looked at all of his race history very closely and he was always 1st, 2nd or 3rd..(with the exception i believe of 1 race) At the time when he was running there were some tough horses. The Jim Dandy he ran against, Purge, The Ciffs Edge, and Eddington. I know he was actually 4th, but got bumped badly and was moved up to 3rd. I credit the people around him for at least sending him to the States to give it a shot, i am sure it would have been easier for them to stay in Canada. Too bad though would have been fun/interesting to see he and A Bit of Gold battle it out one more time in the Breeders. Better to see that they ran against good horses than won but ran against no competition. ??!!
Any thoughts on these two are greatly appreciated.
