I worked for Ferris a few years ago. He had 2 full time assistant trainers and I was one of them. His main assistant Laura has been with him for years. He also during the Colonial Down meet hires a girl from the mid west to come in as his assistant there. She's, well, I'm not going to talk bad about her when she can't defend herself.

I was working for someone else when Laura approached me about working for them. I turned them down, so he went ahead and contacted the mid west girl. Then I came back and said yea, I'll come to work for you. I was hoping he'd send me to Delaware as originally planned but he said he had promised it to the mid west person. But when Colonial opened I could go to Delaware and take over his string.

Now, mid west lady was there for almost 3 months and won 3 races, 2 of them came from the barn at Laurel,MD. She then shipped to VA and I went to Delaware. In 5 weeks we won 6 races out of 10. We also had a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and one off the board. We (me and my crew) started 5 from our barn, we had 3 wins, one 2nd and one 3rd. Laura based at Laurel,MD sent us 5 starters, she provided us with the other 3 wins, the fourth and the off the board.

Neither one of us followed what Ferris told us to do regarding training, leg work or medications. He is the only trainer I've ever done that with. Usually I follow instructions to a T, but not with him.

Get your horse to another trainer, I'll tell you another trainer not to go to because he injects everything, even untried 2 yr olds, I'll pm you with that.

After 30 years you get to know patterns.

You're the second person from this forum that offered me that. Maybe I should consider it................. not yet though.

Thank you for the ego boost though.

Hi Winds,

You are welcome. Sorry about the typo on the earlier post. I am blessed that my stallion is such as easy handle with a good mine. There are just not to many stud handlers that I know of that are woman and if my boy was not good, I would not handle him myself.

About you as a trainer....you would be great without even seeing you because of your philosphy! We notice that the best trainers in the industry with the best horses, give them time off.......

Take care,
