some pedigree freak will know this...

Postby johnrr88 » Sat Jun 03, 2006 2:02 pm

There is a great statistical breeding nick for Beau Genius mares but i cant, for the life of me remember what it is. Does anyone out there know it?

I'm not a blind believer in "nicks" by any means, but it would a good place to start with this mare. She is a hard knocking confirmed loser (30 starts I think)... who ran 3d 3 times in La/ Tex circuit.

Although there will be those who disagree, I think she has enough pedigree and conformation to take a chance on breeding once or twice...

We'll give her the year off to eat grass. Offers welcome. She's in Shreveport now.........Name: Baby Genius, 2001.
Regards to all!

Beau Genius

Beau Genius line breeds well with Raise a Native or Northern Dancer and also does very well with Buckpasser Bloodlines. He does well line breeding on full brothers Viceregal and Vice Regent.

He is the broodmare sire
Sis City by Slew City Slew
Certain by Out Of Place
Three Degrees by Singspiel
Lady Vye by Vying Victor
Silver Impulse by Silver Charm
Mavoreen by Sir Cat
Sparkling Ping by Marquetry

A horse in Louisiana that I would recommend for would be Easyfromthegitgo

I think the nick you refer to is actually the Turn-To line. To validate, all but one of the horses Keith listed has the Turn-To line in the sire's pedigree. Another very good nick seems to be back to Bold Ruler. There seems to be a lot of LA TROIENNE showing up, which explaines the Buckpasser nick, but it's also found in The Axe, Cohoes, and Better Self. I believe the nick to Viceregal/Vice Regent is actually a nick to their grand dam VICTORIANA, as she shows up quite often thru other branches, also.

Obviously, your mare already has a lot of the Turn-To line, so you may want to look for a son of Seattle Slew, or a sire that has Secretariat or Buckpasser in his female side. You could try a nick to Halo, or Sir Ivor, any other Turn-To line sire not named Roberto  .

Personally, I would look at Dove Hunt. He's been one of the top Texas sires, reasonable fee, and, as Keith stated, you get Northern Dancer, the LA TROIENNE nick thru Cohoes, and nick back to Turn-To thru Sir Gaylord.

Good luck!

Since your mare is in Shreveport you might want to look at my two stallions standing in Opelousas at the Running R Ranch. Your mare crosses very well with both. MUSTANG JOCK stands for $500 this year. Look up his pedigree and also there is a picture of him. Everyone that has seen him has bred to him. Also, I stand COUNTER PUNCH and I will give you a free breeding. You only pay mare care. PM me if you are interested. I know I have replied to you in another thread about Louisiana stallions but I think I have two of the best bred young stallions in the South. They are definitely worth consideration. How many Wild Again's and Cozzene's do you find in Louisiana or Texas?

Erlton

Following along Keith's and the Colonel's line of reasoning, Erlton gives the Northern Dancer through brother Vice Regent, Buckpasser and the the additional line of Turn To, not through Roberto (Hail to Season). He stands at Red River

Larrygene, thats a very generous offer. Both your stallions match very well (pedigree wise) with the mare.

John, both suggestions from Keith and hpkingjr also look good on paper. Looks like a good place to start. Keep us posted!

Good luck!

Hi John,
We have a Beau Genius mare as well, her name is Carly Pooh, and I agree with everything that has been suggested here thus far. At the moment we have a weanling filly by Slew City Slew ( 3/4 to Sis City ) and we bred the mare back to Louis Quatorze so obviously we agree with Northern Dancer & back to Bold Ruler. I might just add that Silver Deputy also works extremely well as does Cryptoclearance. Our mare already has both the Brothers Vice Regal & Vice Regent in her pedigree so we're " toying " with the idea of re-visiting a Deputy Minister line stud as that has had success in the past. I'd love to send her to Silver Ghost but he's a total nut job. Good luck to you !
