Question - Global Mission

Postby JaradM » Sat Dec 02, 2006 6:18 am

I am thinking about breeding my mare Boomtown Beauty to Global Mission. He is a unraced son (due to injury) of Danzig and full brother to Mull of Kintyre who is a classic sire. Mull of Kintyre's son, Araafa, a leading European miler, captured this year's classic Boylesports Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-I) and the St. James's Palace Stakes (Eng-I). He also ran second in this year's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Eng-I).

Global Mission looks just like his brother and his stud fee is only $1000. My biggist concern is I am breeding this mare to sell the foal and I am worried becasue he is unraced and unproven. But I also believe with his pedigree its only a matter of time until he becomes one of the better sires in LA. His first three crops have also only averaged around 15 - 20 foals per year becasue he is at a small farm that does not do much advertising. His first two year olds are due to run this year.

Anyone have any opinions on this breeding?

I also forgot to mention the main reason I am considering Global Mission is becasue the Mare has been barren for two years so we would like to breed to a stud close to home and Global is about a 5 minute drive from our farm.

I'm not an expert, on matings, but if you are in Louisiana, what about Ide? It may be a little close on Mr. P, but they seem to both sell and run. I really liked him when he was in KY, and had 2 yearlings by him. Both were good-looking and good-minded. He's only $2500.

I am trying to go the northern dancer route with this mare. Also with her breeding issues our vet would like us to bring her in to be flushed for a few days before and after she is bred. Ide is a good ways away from home, I live south of lafayette.

I'm with you on the commercial aspect. Unless his foals win a couple of stakes right off the bat, he won't be in much demand. That's to bad...he is nicely bred.

There is a guy in La who is a great pedigree/mating analyst. I suggest you contact him. He will talk your ear off! ( he does charge for an analysis....but talk is free!!! ) His website is ....www.buildabetterracehorse.com

Pembroke

Thanks for you insight, I really do think he will have a big stakes winner pretty soon becasue his owner also owns Hollowed Dreams and a pretty nice group of mares. Global will be bred to her every year for the forseable future. Hollowed Dreams yearling by Global sold for $57,000 this year.

JaradM I think you have made a great choice in breeding to Global Mission but if your mare doesn't catch on the 2nd or 3rd time bring her to Mustang Jock. We will get her in foal and you will be very happy!! Just wait until you see his babies. :D

Pembroke,

Yes, I am talking about the Romero's. They live in Erath, the same town I am from.

I like the bottom side of Global Mission, It seems like a great choice for the money, considering the situation. I sent you a PM with some thoughts as I own an interest in a mare with the same granddam as Boomtown beauty.
