Her name is "All Glory" , on the small side at 15.1, but has legs of iron.
We would like to keep her in FL and under 10k, any suggestions?
I've said it before...I believe that three young Florida stallions with a genuine shot to potentially hit it big-time are Full Manate...Omega Code and Indian Ocean.
As for Full Mandate ($5,000 live)...I expect that many beeders might sit on there hands and wait to see how his first crop of 2-yos sell and/or run in '07. Whatever the risk might be (of breeding to FM in 2007), taking the chance might prove to pay a big reward...then again it might not...hmmm.
As for Omega Code ($7,500 live)...he was strictly a sprinter...but I've seen plenty of foals by him...and I liked MANY that I've seen...some VERY much. And (for the most part) they appeared to have more leg under them than I might have expected.
As for Indian Ocean ($5,000 live)...he could (from my perspective) be particularly interesting for your mare. He'll have first foals arriving in 2007.
Indian Ocean had genuine speed (winning at 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:14 and change) and he could carry it...winning Hollywood'Park's 1 1/16 mile Affirmed H-G3 over the likes of Buzzards Bay (off his Santa Anita Derby-G1 win) and graded stakes-winner (and top-class talent) Surf Cat...all on the main track.
All three (Omega Code, Full Mandate and Indian Ocean) are quite correct horses (particularly up-front, which is arguably the most scrutinized view). That said, if your mare's feet are a touch small...Full Mandate might not be the best choice. He offers a lot of body, bone and substance...but some might like to see a bit more foot on such a good-sized horse.
If you're looking for a handsome stallion that exposed sheer brilliance as a sprinter...Omega Code, who is also quite correct but has a straighter hind leg than some might prefer...could be a stallion for you. He could fly...won a 6 furlong stake in 1:07 3/5 (as a 2-yo no less), WOW...and a (6 furlong) Santa Anita G3, at age 3. As I mentioned above...I've seen many foals by Omega Code that look the part (to my way of thinking)...plus he had first crop 2006 weanlings that sold for up to $100k. Impressive (to my way of thinking).
Omega Code could likely inject some brilliant speed. I'd expect that Full Mandate (who sold for $3.2mil as a yearling) might inject (among other things) some staying power (and classic hopes)...and Indian Ocean could likely inject the speed AND the necessary qualities that could suggest and inspire classic hopes and dreams.
With the recent G1-Hollywood Futurity victory of Stormello (also by Stormy Atlantic, the sire of Indian Ocean)...and 2-yo Canadian championship honors being delivered to undefeated Leonatus Anteus (also by Stormy Atlantic) I get a sense that Stormy Atlantic is earning support and recognition as an important (or potentially important at the very least) son of Storm Cat.
That said...I view Stormy Atlantic as a potentially important sire of sires (he has a HUGE pedigree, being by Storm Cat out of a G1 winning Seattle Slew daughter...and is from a family of highly successful sires). With that in mind, I confidently look to Indian Ocean (by Stormy Atlantic and out of a Halo mare, 2nd dam by Gone West, 3rd dam a Northern Dancer full-sister to Storm Bird [sire of Storm Cat]) to be one heck of a sire prospect.
I suggest that Omega Code...Full Mandate and Indian Ocean are worthy serious consideration, certainly among the young stallions.
It might also be worthy of consideration that Full Mandate and Omega Code both currently stand at the same farm (Hartley-Derenzo) that Successful Appeal and Songandaprayer both stood at before their move to Kentucky. Successful Appeal last stood at Hartley-Derenzo (Florida) for $6,000...and Songandaprayer for $10,000. Successful Appeal currently stands at Walmac Lex for $40,000 (for 2007) and Songandaprayer (also currently at Walmac Lex) stands for $45,000 (for 2007).
As for Indian Ocean, he currently stands at the same farm (Bridlewood) that his own sire (Stormy Atlantic) stood at before his move to Kentucky. Stormy Atlantic started (at Bridlewood) for a $3,500 stud fee, and last stood there (prior to his move to Kentucky) for $6,000 (if memory serves). Stormy Atlantic currently stands at Hill n Dale (Kentucky) for $30,000 (for 2007). Seems pretty clear that Bridlewood is committed to Indian Ocean's success.
Just something to think about.
Wishing you success.
