I am considering breeding to Millennium Wind and am seeking information about his soundness and of soundness issues of horses in his pedigree. :)

reenci, correct me if I'm wrong. I realize it's still too early, but isn't that a low number of average starts?

These are babies! MW was never expected to produce great 2yo's, and his 3yo's are just now hitting the racetracks. I believe his soundness issues were related to constricted feet, aggravated by improper shoeing. He's also a very large, heavy horse, which would be even harder on his sore feet.

I like him for the right mares. Vivid Dreams' 2006 filly by him is a beauty and well-conformed--Dreams on the Wind.

what are constricted feet?

My mare is Kool Delta out of Slew City Slew. Any comments on possible soundness issues if bred to Millennium Wind?

Apparently Kool Delta was a sound and honest runner, and has already a good start at stud. I like the linebreeding of Bold Ruler, Turn-To, Hail to Reason, and Nothirdchance. Unless your girl has other problems physically or is especially outsized, I would think it a good match for breed-to-race. It remains to be seen how well his future foals will sell after his runners get going.

Thank you for taking a look at this mating. Kool Delta looks very much like the mare in your response based on the photo in pedigree query.

I did see a couple of new week old foals by MW last Sunday and both looked impressive. The photo of your fily shows her to also be a good size with a nice head an well put together.

I am breeding to race, but as a small breeder (with a full-time other job) I also want to keep my option open to sell if necessary.
