Millennium Wind bred to Kool Delta to much/ of a good thing?

Postby helen wilson » Wed Mar 14, 2007 4:43 pm

I am considering breeding my mare Kool Delta to Millenium Wind. I am a novice at breeding and have been reading about and researching pedigrees for months. Just when I believe I know what looks like a good or bad cross, I read something else that has me questioning my prior understanding.

Milennium Wind interests me since he is a G1 winner, by Cryptoclearance and he stands in New York.

To me this mating would have inbreeding to Polynesian 5S X6D, also the dam of Polynesian, Alablue will be in the 5th generation on MW side. Is this a good or a bad thing?

Grey Flight via What a Pleasure from Millennum Wind and Grey Flight via Weber City Miss from Kool Delta. I believe this is a good thing and brings in soundness.

Inbreeding to Turn-To in the 5th generation via Sir Gaylord from MW and via Hail to Reason from KD. I believe this is a good thing.

I am a little concerned about soundness since Drone only ran 4 times and meadowlake only ran 3 times. However, I did read that if Drone on the dam side (is sire of dam of MW) he brings soundness and stamina.

There is also a Raise A Native in the 5th generation for MW and KD.

I would appreciate any input, insight to the good and bad of this planned mating.
