Best cross on a daughter of Cox's Ridge

Postby tmqh » Sun Apr 15, 2007 8:16 pm

I have a nice mare by Cox's Ridge out of a daughter of Relaunch. Any idea what crosses have worked best? I'm fairly new to the TB's so any advice is greatly appreciated. I am located in Indiana.

What is the mare's name? Is it Pfenning?

Yes, it is Pfenning. I just purchased her at the Keeneland sale. Any advice?

Your mare's female family has consistently worked quite well with the Clever Trick branch of Nearctic, so that is one approach. Her dam's full sister Due Bill has produced a couple of winners on the Clever Trick line, her 3rd dam produced a stakes winner to the cover of Icecapade. Pfenning herself has a half-brother who won over $100k by Phone Trick.

With that in mind, how about forgoing Indiana and taking her to Kentucky to the poster Madelyn's stallion Rocking Trick?

If you do choose to stay in Indiana:

Black Moonshine in Indiana will duplicate the cross that produced champion sprinter Orientate (Mt Livermore over Cox's Ridge). As an added benefit, Blushing Groom (sire of Mt Livermore) has crossed strongly with Relaunch to the tune of Zip, etc.
