My mind is still burnt out from doing breedings last year... help me start somewhere.

Precocious Kat (PrecocityxBlue Kat)

Commercial breeding (likely selling in foal). $15k or under. Eh, up to $20k if I might be able to get a deal.

Really? No one?

I did a bit of work on it last night.

Eurosilver - hard to ignore his covering sire sales figures
Belong to Me - A+ Werk
E. Dubai - good covering sire sales figures, Precocity has a fairly sucessful horse using the a Mr. Prospector line with him.

Who the heck does Hoist the Flag nick with? I've tried the ones that came to mind in Werkhorse and I can't come up with anything better than the A+ with Belong to Me.

Who of those three above has bad knees? That's this mare's big problem.

Note: I'm not a professional: these are just my thoughts.

I'd really love to see some Fappiano blood brought into the mating. The site below notes that Hoist the Flag blood works quite well with Fappiano and other Mr. P. sire lines. However, if your mare has bad knees, many of the Fappiano line (especially through Unbridled, the king of Crooked Legs) have the bad knees of Fappy himself.

I wish Cryptoclearance went with your mare. He's a good covering sire, gets top racehorses, but has Hoist the Flag as his broodmare sire already and, unless you want the foal to be reallllly inbred to the unsound Hoist, I don't recommend it.

As to who you *should* breed to, I personally love Quiet American. He's by Fappiano and carries a close-up cross of Princequillo, who also crosses well with Hoist. According to the Darley website (http://www.darley.co.uk/ind_stallion_ho ... CAN%20(USA)), his runners are quite sound (although Real Quiet was called "The Fish"). Still, many of Quiet American's horses do get flawed knees, but, even with flawed conformation, still run big. http://www.equineinfo.com/Quiet_Fun.htm

Apparently, horses of these lines work well with Hoist:

Princequillo
Halo
Vice Regent
Sir Ivor
etc.

If you could get a sire with a mix of Halo and Vice Regent, maybe with a bit of Fappiano thrown in, that might work.

You could go with a Mr. P. line that isn't Fappiano and doesn't have crooked knees, that being Smoke Glacken (Two Punch). His progeny have a very strong reputation for soundness, and I believe I read that he is a good choice for mares with conformation problems.

You've got Precious Cat? I worked with his mom, Blue Kat, a couple of years ago! I loved her, she was a nice mare!

Good luck with her!
