Pedigree Query

Just daydreaming with regard to this advertised mare. She caught my eye because she's inbred close up to Faraway Son (Tourbillion sireline through Ambiopoise/Ambiorix) via his two very good racemare daughters: Waya and Officer's Ball.

OF course, I'm drooling because of my penchant (weakness, obsession) for these "Tourbillion" bloodlines - and the fact that you seldom see two outstanding examples of it in such proximity in a pedigree. But I wonder what stallions/sirelines breeders on this forum would consider a good match for such a mare?

It seems that this mare's family likes that Faraway Son blood well enough - would you even countenance a third infusion of Faraway Son/Ambiopoise via his lone representative in this country: French Seventyfive? There's also a successful offspring by Dr. Devious close up under her 2nd dam I believe so an Ahonoora branch stallion is another possibility.....Marcel Boussac was very successful in continuously interweaving the various strains of this sireline together in close proximity but also seemed to know when an outcross to another sireline was due. The Aga Khan did well acquiring those Boussac mares intensely inbred to the Byerly Turk strains and outcrossing them, sometimes with a remote tie-back to their Byerly "roots" further back in the pedigree, to produce some outstanding racehorses.

Would a third cross to yet another "Tourbillion" sire be completely out of line? Possibally one involving a stallion that brings in a strain to My Babu or Kerala (which bloodlines have frequently shown success when paired up to the Ambiorix strains). They both appear further back in this mare's pedigree so a chance there to double up on Tourbillion in a different way. OR....is it time for an outcross, and if so who would you go to that appreciates an injection of the "Tourbillion" blood??? She is certainly a good outcross to all the Northern Dancer/Mr.P stallions that abound in the marketplace today, but how to mine this mare's positives in that context?

I thought it would be fun to hear other's ideas for such an unusual pedigree by today's standards, so please chime in as to what you would do with such a mare given today's selection of stallions in North America? (This is all presupposed on breeding to race - which in my book does not mean breeding 'cheaply' or 'poorly' but rather with an emphasis on producing a superior race horse, rather than with an eye to the auction marketplace.

French Seventyfive would be completely out unless I was trying to raise a broodmare. I'd cross her on a complete outcross with complementary conformation and go for the hybrid vigor.

Casallc - thanks for the prompt response. Breeding for a broodmare is a backup plan I like to contemplate when planning a breeding, but it certainly would not be the main goal here. I'd love to hear any specific recommendations as to a complete outcross candidate for breeding to race this mare's offspring and the reasoning behind same.

For you and others who haven't seen the ad, some further information: this mare has been previously bred to Olmodavor (06) and Action This Day (07) and is advertised in foal to Champali for an '08 (her price reflects all fees paid on that breeding I believe).

The Olmodavor mating is kind of interesting because his fourth dam tail female is Golden Sari, a "reines de course" by Ambiorix out of fellow "reine" Banta of the "Bourtai" female family. Also if purchased and kept in KY through foaling she comes with a free breeding to "..an AP Indy son out of a Dehere mare".....so I guess I'd also like to hear thoughts on the Champali cross to this mare/her prospective foal.

Couple of suggestions:

Rocking Trick here in KY has two strains of Tourbillion in Djebel both in his 6th generation and

Ocean Terrace in OK has 4x7 sex balanced Ambiorix through Amber morn and High Voltage.

I would favor Bold Ruler crosses which Champali and Olmodavor were I didn't like the Action "One" Day. If money were no object I would like Yes It's True. I don't know anything about Faraway Son but I would have liked him better bred back to his daughter to achieve hybrid vigor. If you believe what people put in the pedigree notes about Faraway Son, there might not be enough rompun to get that mating done.
