Trying to find a good fit in KY, 5000-10,000 range for this mare:
American Challenge (You and I x Tracy V by Valid Appeal).

I'm tempted by Belong To Me but I'm wary of his offspring being "delicate". Any thoughts out there?

I think you should probably breed to a proven stallion, since she's not proven one way or another.

I do like inbreeding to Grey Flight, and a proven stallion within your budget is Slew City Slew. The inbreeding to Grey Flight is 6x5 but the pedigree is really nicely linebred.

You can't go wrong with him and you're giving your mare the best shot to produce a foal who can earn it's keep.

It's funny you mention Kela because Margaux likes her with Cryptoclearance! I honestly don't know too much about Kela other than the serious amount of ads that Margaux has out there! I'll have a look-see!

Slew City Slew is on my short list...I've liked him for a "racehorse" sire for quite some time!

If you're mare is still in the big white north, you might want to look at Gilded Time with her. It will give you interesting inbreeding to What a Pleasure and Princequillo.

The GT's still sell pretty well and I'd imagine they'll sell real well in Canada. It would certainly have every right to be a fast and versatile foal.

Olmodavor looks to be a good choice with inbreeding to Hail to Reason and others.
I also wonder about some Ontario studs, due to your location.

I've been told that the half-sister to this mare, a filly by Yankee Gentleman, has some rather "funky" forelegs, for lack of a better term, and that I may want to watch out for soundness issues...although the mare herself is merely a little offset in the knees. How has Gilded Time fared in that respect? Any thoughts out there?

Sadly myself I try to mate all clients mares on the basis of if it doesn't sell for what they desire it's one they're going to race themselves so decisions have to be made with that in mind.Give us an idea of what you are planning to do with the resultant foal.

This would be a breed to race operation..with the foal most likely racing at Canterbury/Prairie Meadows and the like. Then again, if I had yearling that I thought might sell well, I might go that route too! Thanks!

A sire doesn't spring immediately to mind, but when I see Prairie Meadows/Canterbury I often think some good turf opportunities (I hope I'm thinking of the right tracks here). Have you thought of bringing some turf into the pedigree?

Otherwise if you want to go Kentucky I'd third or fourth the nomination of Slew City Slew. He is getting on a little.

If the mare has conformation problems, a good breed to race sire in Kentucky that's a low price and supposedly has magnificent conformation (bear in mind that I read from a good, but not perfect source) is Bright Launch. His best offspring right now is Spotsgone.

I didn't have time to hypomate your mare with Bright Launch today but he might be worth a quick look.

Geowarrior--I have indeed thought of taking advantage of local turf opportunities! Another mare I recently acquired is a French stakes placed Highest Honor mare out of a daugher of Sharpen Up. I would have given my eye-teeth to go to Royal Academy, but alas, we won't be seeing him on our side of the water ever again...
