Too close inbreeding to Graustark?

Postby harvey » Sat Apr 19, 2008 9:35 am

I'm thinking of breeding one of my mares, Believe Big Bran, to Deer Lake, but I'm worried that Graustark is too "close." We race our horses in the Indiana state-bred program so I'm interested in IN stallions, preferably southern IN.

Any insight would be appreciated!!

The foal would be 4x4 to Graustark. That is not too close. If they have faults in common some other horse might be better. There are a few proven stallions that might be suitable(Black Moonshine,Hunting Hard, & Presidential Order).

Ditto to Soundfast.

Private Lap, a new sire makes for a interesting pedigree and uses the brothers His Majesty and Graustark.

I heard a rumor this morning that Presidential Order has met with an accident.
