Arrested Dreams is linebred to Damascus. She is the multiple stakes winning dam of Oratory, who stands at Country Life Farm, and one other stakes horse.

I'm thinking about breeding Anniebsmart to Stored.. He has a great rear end, which she needs, and is throwing a lot of speed. What's your advice?

Damascus Inbreeding

Postby hpkingjr » Tue Feb 17, 2009 5:20 am

There are 8 graded winners with inbreeding to Damascus in the G1 Goldmine. Six of them are sex balanced, one is male-male and one is female -female strain. In this data base there are 19 stakes winners from the first 300 in the alphabet (about a 6% strike rate).

If you want to review those horses, pull up Damascus, click on inbreeding and it will pull up the horse in apha order.

Griff,

I like the gender balanced linebreeding a Stored/Anniebsmart mating would produce but I'm partial to proven runners as sires and your mare is free of Northern Dancer & Mr. Prospector. If you want to stay with Naylee Farm, I'd be tempted to go back to Limit Out or Prospect Bay. Are those yours? How did they turn out?

Also, your mare is tail female to Dance Rhythm who is bred like Cosmah and Natalma. I'd look for a sire bred like Bop with Halo, Mr. Prospector and Northern Dancer. Unfortunately, Bop doesn't seem to have done much as a sire.

Thanks Altanbarr

Anniebsmart is going to drop a Limit Out in April and maybe we should go back to him..

Limit Out is one of those horses that makes you look at him.. I also like his stats; i.e., $39k average eranings per starter for 2008 as compared to NFL with $31k.. Adamandia's Girl is also dropping a Limit Out in April and I'm going to have to decide if she goes back to him or to Gunnerside or Stored.. She has a 3 YO Civilisation gelding that will run his third race on 02/28 at CTown.. A 7 furlong MSW for WVBRED 3 YO. His firstb two were 4 1/2 which he ran like a miler.

I'd like to know if something happened to Stored or if he's just one of those horses that did live up to his breeding.. You gotta love his dam and his daddy is no slouch either.

Thanks for the input.

Out of curiosity, how does your Civilisation gelding look? Are you pleased with the way he has come along?

I have two Civilisation 2005 geldings. Civil Disorder will [hopefully] run this Saturday in a 7 furlong MSW for WVBED 3 YOs at CT. I'll have a better feel for how he's doing after that race. It's his first 7 furlong and that should be his distance. The other two were 4 1/2 furlongs and he ran them like they were 7 furlongs.

The other, Hotel Sierra, will run his first race in early March..

I was told up front that Civilisation get mature late and this seems to be the case with these two.

Hey Griff

Checked the result on Equibase. Looks like there was a train wreck at the start, and Civil Disorder still got into the fray for a while. Did he come out OK?

Did you go up for it? Must have been one long, nasty night.

Yes, I went up.. he was slamed pretty hard by the winner coming out of the gate but his jocket had him positioned pretty good when he quit on her.. Scoped him and found blood and will now put him on lasik.

I wonder why they have to bleed before we can put them on lasik.

My other 3 YO Civilisation is entered in the 4 1/2 MSW for WVBRED 3 YOs on 03/06. This will be his first race and he's not on lasik.

Civilisations

I had one I just gave away for the second time. He did not get to 15.2 until 4 1/2 years, would not train, very quietly nervous and stubborn. I think now he is ready though. I wish you luck with yours. He is so well bred but I don't think I'll go back to him......

Speaking of Damascis line-breeding, Stored X Empress Maggie would give you a 4S X 5D to Damascus which I think would be interesting. In addition Stored's dam is the only mare I know that won three Breeder's Cup stakes races and was a Champion; i.e., I think mares are much more important in a pedigrre that stallions.

Also, Valiant Nature X Empress Maggie would give you a 3S X 4D to Ribot which I think would be very interesting..

Not a bad run there Griff. Paying the feed bill anyway. If these guys could just break cleanly... Did he come out OK?

He ran a good race, except coming out of the gate.. What gets me is two horses leave the gate late and with the whole track to themselves they run into each other..

This is the one that had laser surgery on his palate and while his second place was great, the fact his palate did not flip was even better..

I think he's going to do just fine..

Damascus line

Postby 1976man » Thu Mar 12, 2009 2:20 pm

I really like the Damascus line. I bought a filly which I named Nez Nevaeh because of her Damascus line. She is in training now. I would like opinions on her pedigree.
