Kentucky Derby Winners and the GSV Score

Postby merse » Mon May 25, 2009 5:14 am

On another forum to which I am a member, Adrian Parry did some research on Kentucky Derby results and GSV scores. The GSV score was developed by George William Smith (one of our members on this forum)and are posted on the pedigreequery.com site in horse pedigrees next to the Dosage numbers. The GSV numbers on the pedigreequery site have not been updated since 2005 so you would have to go to George's website to try and find the updated ones but the old ones on pedigreequery are pretty close (please correct me if I'm wrong, George).

Anyway, no Kentucky Derby winner since 1940 has had a GSV score lower than 63. If a Classic winner is your breeding goal, you might want to consider the GSV as another "sort" factor in making analyzing the hypo-mating of your mare.
